This is the table - as you can see there is a casting at the end of the table. They made that the first day that the treatments started. It is some kind of foam - you put your legs in it and they get all of the laser aligned and then they suck all the air out of it and it forms around your legs and that what keeps your legs straight on the table. They also put the three alignment tattoos on.
ThE "Big Head" rolls around 180 degrees and that is how the treatment is administered. I my situation they treat top - bottom - and both hips.
This is a center shot showing the laser alignment - as you can see in the pictures above the table is low. They raise the table to align you w/ the laser. This pic shows how close that you are to the "Big Head" There are lasers on three walls and in the ceiling - when they bring up my profile sheet it tells them how high to raise the table and where I need to be on the table by aligning all the lasers on the marks on my hips and stomach.
This pic shows how the lasers align and how my legs are in the form. This is the position that I am in when the treatment is administered. Look right under my hands and there is a white area - that is the area that is being treated.
This shows how the lasers align - the laser is covering the marks - there is a cross drawn in magic marker on my hip and in the center of that cross is a very small tattoo and this is how they get me aligned on the table so the radiation goes to the right places.
This shows the mark on my right hip. There is also a side view of the "Big Head".
Closer short w/ the laser aligned - there is also another mark on my stomach that the laser in the ceiling aligns to. Look right below my hands and down on the sheet at the lighted area - that is the area that they are treating at this time. 3/6 tat are will reduce to 50% of that size and then in 5 days it will be reduced to 50% of that which will be localized directly to the rectum. I bet thats going to get real hot... Inside the "Big Head" there are leaves that open and close that changes the treatment area.
When I first came to the GCC Dr. Smith had to setup a treatment plan and send it off to get it in digital form so they could upload it to the computer. They choose my name on the computer and it pulls the plan up and away we go.....
