If You Are 50 Y/O get a Colonoscopy
12/5/07 - I was diagnosed w/ rectal cancer.
I guess that I should not be surprised - I am on a personal crusade to get as many ol' farts to get a colonoscopy. I have have talk to no less than 20 -30 people and 60% of them had not been checked.
I was not surprised at the reason that they wouldn't go - the same reason that I didn't go -
Don't think that I have to say anymore about that.
AS LARRY THE CABLE GUY SAYS - "GIT R DONE" so I don't have to be reading about you on the Internet.
This is cool now there is NO reason not to GO
The worst part of the whole thing was not getting to eat for almost 40 hours and then having to drink 3 oz's of that Phospho-Soda EZ Prep Bowel Cleansing System and it does just what it says it does....I tried it w/ water and apple juice - found that Gatorade did the trick.
The next morning headed out to Kirby Surgical Center in Horseshoe Bay to get the procedure done. When we got there and got through the registration process they took me back to a room and hooked up an IV of saline to get some water back in the body - refer to the BCS above - Dr. Thomas came in and explained what he was going to do and the Anesthesiologist came next and gave me a shot of FENTANYL (sp) he said that it would relax me and take off the edge - to say the least in about 2 minutes my eyes were crossed and in LA LA land. The nurse (Vic - rides a GoldWing Trike) rolled me back in the exam room - the Anesthesiologist looked at me and said "Have a good nap" and the next thing I knew it was over and the rest is history....
